
A critical Java bug has been found in the wild effecting Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. There is currently no solution besides disabling or removing Java from your system completely. It allows the bad guys to run ANY program on your system without your knowledge and without you even clicking on anything. Just by simply visiting a website or other page that takes advantage of this vulnerability. Please keep an eye on our page for the announcement when Oracle has issue the fix for Java. We will provide instruction to re-install Java on your system at that time.
Please use these instructions to remove Java from your system (Scroll to the section matching your operating system):
Windows XP:
- Click Start
- Select Control Panel
- Click the Add/Remove Programs control panel icon
- The Add/Remove control panel displays a list of software on your system, including any Java software products that are on your computer. Select any java software by clicking on it, and then click the Remove button. Repeat this for ALL listings you see for Java
- Reboot your computer to make sure the changes have taken effect.
Windows Vista & Windows 7:
- Click Start
- Select Control Panel
- Select Programs
- Click Programs and Features
- Programs and Features control panel displays a list of software on your system, including any Java software products that are on your computer. Select any java software by clicking on it, and then click the Remove button. Repeat this for ALL listings you see for Java
- You may receive a pop-up asking “yes” or “no” immediately after you click remove. This is normal and you can click “YES”. If you see a pop-up like this and you DID NOT just click a button right before, then you should always click “NO” as this may be an unauthorized program trying to install itself.
- Reboot your computer to make sure the changes have taken effect.
Windows 8:
- Click Start
- On your keyboard start typing “Control Panel”
- Click the “Control Panel” link that shows up on the left
- Select “Uninstall A Program”, OR “Programs and Features” depending on your view mode.
- Programs and Features control panel displays a list of software on your system, including any Java software products that are on your computer. Select any java software by clicking on it, and then click the Remove button. Repeat this for ALL listings you see for Java
- You may receive a pop-up asking “yes” or “no” immediately after you click remove. This is normal and you can click “YES”. If you see a pop-up like this and you DID NOT just click a button right before, then you should always click “NO” as this may be an unauthorized program trying to install itself.
- Reboot your computer to make sure the changes have taken effect.
MAC OS
* If you are running Mac OS 10.6 or newer, Apple has taken the precaution of blocking all Java 7 activity for you. To make sure you have this update simply ensure you have take all the latest Software Updates for your system. You can access that by clicking the Apple Menu in the top left corner and selecting “Software Update…”. Install all available updates and you should be fully protected.
To manually remove java 7 from your Mac system, follow these instructions:
Note: To uninstall Java 7, you must have Administrator privileges.
- Click on the Finder icon located in your dock
- Click on Applications tab on the sidebar
- In the Search box enter JavaAppletPlugin.plugin
- This will find the JavaAppletPlugin.plugin file
- Right click on JavaAppletPlugin.plugin and select Move to Trash
- Reboot your Mac to ensure the changes have taken effect.
